This new weekly series is a casual look into my day-to-day DIY life at Blake Hill House.
Last week, I took one day to clean, rearrange, and spruce up the hygge bedroom of my dreams. In case you missed it, I also wrote a blog entry with a ton of photos. We have not done anything with this room since we moved into BHH. With winter right around the corner, my goal was to turn up the coziness factor to peak levels. Mission accomplished.
At the end of the week, I took a window restoration field trip to visit new friends, Nick and Damian, in their beautiful Second Empire fixer-upper. We made a plan for their well-worn storm window and started phase one. (full tutorial and field trip video coming soon!)
Thank you for watching.

Love the Bedroom and that lampshade works (for me-ties in the colors in the room) just curious about no window coverings … i realize those windows are gorgeous but in the winter would not some heavy drapes help with the cold? are even thermal blinds that you draw up during the day? i imagine you have thought of this.. but just curious… lots of windows would seem to invite more cold.
what an incredible house those guys have! that staircase!

I really do not like blinds or drapes. 🙂 The windows in our room are not drafty, but I imagine that drapes would help a lot if they were. I like to use the sun to our advantage and let the light in when it comes. We do have shades that we pull down during the summer because it gets too hot on the second floor.
