It’s the day after Christmas, and I am already itching to take down the decorations and bring some order back to BHH. We still have four more nights of Hannukah to celebrate. Sadly, we send our oldest back to California today, but we are so happy he was able to come home at all.
Today’s post is more of a scrapbook entry than a weekly update, but I wanted to share a time-lapse of another mountain mural that I painted for my friends, Jay and Andrea.
Jay was pretty much the first friend I made when I moved here six years ago. We are both runners, and we met at the YMCA. In September, Jay was diagnosed with stage-4 colon cancer. He and his wife, Andrea, have been working towards climbing all 46 peaks of the Adirondacks. They have scaled 39, but completing their goal is a wild card right now. After Andrea saw the mural that I painted in my son’s room, she wanted to bring the mountains Jay, and so we did.
With so much up in the air right now, their little family is living day-to-day.
Taking a lesson from them, I am signing off until the new year. My new year’s wish for all of you is good health, happy moments, and celebrations of the ordinary.
Happy New Year!
PS: If you are like me, and you never got any holiday cards sent, it is not too late to send best wishes for the new year from Paperless Post–my favorite paper-free greeting card service.

A beautiful mural and a lovely gift for Jay and his family. I was diagnosed with colon and endometrial cancers this summer at the age of 43 and am living day by day myself. All the best to Jay and family to stay strong and positive. Thoughts are with you all.

Hi Linda, Thank you for your comment. I am so sorry to hear that you are living with cancer right now too. I am certain that it is a lot to process, and I hope that you have days when you feel well, and life is enjoyable. <3
