I hope everyone had a nice break. Andy was off work for twelve days. I honestly do not remember him ever being home for that many days in a row. He generally works over 60 hours per week or he is traveling for business. In addition to simply enjoying his company, we managed to get quite a few projects done.
First, unless you are on mobile, you may notice that the Blake Hill House blog has had a facelift. In practical terms that means that you might find some parts of the site that do not work properly. Bear with me as I work on all the details. If you see something that is completely messed up, do not hesitate to contact me.
In the ORC bedroom, we finished painting, the electrician came, and S. and O. were able to move into their rooms at last. They are happy. We are happy. We are not ready for the big reveal yet, but here is a sneak peek:
It is the bluest blue that was ever blue, and S. loves it.
Thanks to a gift card from my mom, we got the router we need to finish the special project that I have planned for S’s room. There is quite a learning curve with a router, so Andy and I are currently learning how to use it effectively and practicing repeatedly before we jump in and ruin all of the wood that we just bought.
Because of the room switcheroo, BHH now has a guest bedroom, and it is open for visitors. My sister used it for four days, and while the room lacks amenities, the bed is comfortable, and there is a place to put your cell phone while you sleep. That’s it though. The room screams, Don’t get too comfortable.
Making the guest room look inviting, instead of like a nun’s sleeping quarters at a convent has made it onto the ever-growing list of things to do at BHH.
I do not have plans for the guest room yet, but I do know that the decor will be inspired by these sheets that I bought at Target. They fit the nature theme that we intend to focus on as we decorate BHH.
During vacation, we had two days of warmer temperatures that allowed Andy to work outside cutting fallen trees and bagging up the leaves that got covered by snow during the November storm. We made time for ice skating, and the kids did a little snow boarding at the park near our house.
Lastly, we picked up a nice desk at an estate sale. It needed a little TLC, but now it is a beauty.
And that is where I shall start tomorrow. Refinishing the top of the desk was satisfying and easy, and we all need a slam-dunk project once in a while, right?
Now let’s talk about you. How was your holiday? Did you have a white Christmas?
