Last week, after all that talk about pink paint, I had a change of heart. Although I love the color, when I laid all of the bedding together and compared it to the paint chip, the colors were off. I intended for the pink walls to draw out the reds and pinks from the throw pillow fabric.
Unfortunately, the shades of red and dark pink did not coordinate with Quaint Peche at all. I made a rookie mistake. I bought the paint before the accessories.
After going back to the drawing board, I came up with this revised plan.
Captivating Cream is a pale yellow-orange. It looks beautiful with the entire color scheme of the guest room, so no additional changes were necessary.
At the moment, after one coat, it looks way too yellow. I am second-guessing myself (again!) However, I think that with the addition of bedding and accessories, the color will fade into the background more.
This week, I also did a little shopping at Wayfair. I picked up two of these antique brass table lamps. Since there is only one wall sconce in the room, additional lighting is a necessity.
I still need to buy some bed skirts and find artwork. Once that is done, the guest room will be ready for a steady stream of summer visitors. Come on over!

I envision the interiors of closets in the future being Quaint Peche.
I have certainly made the error of picking a color before really planning everything out and realizing it just won’t work. I have two gallons of Benjamin Moore – Dior Gray (2133-40) just waiting for the right place to be used after deciding I didn’t want to paint an entire room that color.

I think with one gallon of Quaint Peche here, the interior of everything may have to be that color. May Quaint Peche and Dior Gray someday be the perfect color for us or someone within proximity to us. 🙂

Our dining room was the first room we painted when we moved into our house, and while the color is a great gray, it isn’t the right gray. Now that we’ve painted more of the house, I’m planning to go back and paint it a warmer brown-gray rather than one with blue undertones. Sometimes you don’t really know until you get into it or get more pieces together that it isn’t what you really want.
I think another coat of paint will probably give you a better version of the color and it will look great. It looks like it matches the accents in your other pieces quite well.
Stacy
You speak the truth.
PS: I have a second coat on the walls now, and I think I like it!
Christine
Yay! I can’t wait to see more pictures of the room with all of the details.

I can say with complete conviction that once you get another coat of paint on the walls AND it dries for a day, it won’t be way too yellow. I like this color more than the Quaint Peche, actually. And I’m relieved it’s not white! ?
Stacy
I have a second coat on now, and I think I like it. I give it a tentative thumb’s up.
Harper
Yes, yes, yes! I think this color looks great with your other choices and will accomplish what you want (pulling out the colors in the pillows). Can’t wait to see the completed room.
Stacy
Thank you, Harper. It is almost done!

I don’t think it looks too yellow at all. But I’m not there and I’m not you.
My mom did much worse – she bought wallpaper for the kitchen years in advance and then got custom cabinetry because what was available from more standard sources didn’t look good with the wallpaper.
And she got couches for the living room immediately, worried that the fabric that she wanted would be too cold, then finished putting the room together a couple years later and regretted everything from the first round of purchases and had the couches recovered and got new rugs.
Stacy
Oh no! I can’t imagine. I am cringing for your mom. What a huge investment! Is she still living with it, or did she eventually make a change? (or move! LOL)
Chad
She had the couches recovered 6 years ago after I believe 13 years of living with them. And then came shopping for Oriental rugs and matching every color in them to the other colors in the room. That was fun. She dragged me into it too.
Chad
Ha, Facebook just sent me a “memory” about the living room. March 30, 2011:
Mom: “I want you to know, when you get home I have rugs here.”
Dad: “Well you’ll just have to tell me which one you want me to like.”
Stacy
Ha ha! I love it. I can just imagine this scenario. 😀

I can’t wait to see it all put together! I especially love the feathery fabric with its soft colors.
BTDT with paint colors! I once painted a guest room a green that I was sure would be lovely. It was HORRID; I think the reflected light from the vegetation outside the windows probably had something to do with its surprising hideousness. I grabbed the remains of the green paint, dumped in some leftover blue and white from other projects, and slapped that on the walls to cover the ugliness. It turned out to be the perfect (but never-to-be-repeated) color that I was looking for all along. Whew, got lucky with that!
Stacy
Your story is funny. I love how you just go with the flow. I considered adding other colors to Quaint Peche to see what would happen. I opted out of that adventure. 😀

Yes, it might have been quainter than you were looking for! With my ugly green walls, it was a case of “ANYTHING would be better than this,” so I really had nothing to lose!
