Long Weekend = Long Work Hours

Now that this website is stable again, it is back to work. Be warned, the site look will probably change (again!), but for now, I am channeling my inner Elsa and letting it go.

We have all been enjoying every second of spring. The entire town went from snow to mow in about two weeks time. Right now, each day brings a new flower opening or a fern unfurling, and the grass seems to grow an inch overnight. My long runs have been punctuated literally by stopping to smell the roses. Growing up in the high desert climate of Southern Utah and living for fifteen years in the drought-ridden Central Valley of California, this is all very new. I have never lived in a place where water flows so freely and people are not constantly fighting over it.

Andy is off for the long weekend. Despite all of my best intentions, I get very little work done on the house while he is gone. He has been traveling often, so it will be nice to have him home. I have a huge work weekend planned much to his dismay. In addition, this is marathon weekend. I am so excited. I rarely make it known on this particular blog, but running is a huge part of my life. For several years, I chronicled every step on my other blog Stacy Runs. If I had a few more hours in each day, I would still be writing there too. As it is now, the running gets done and that is all. I am headed into this race healthy and strong. That is all I hoped for this year.

We will spend some time this weekend making sure the kids understand what Memorial Day is all about. After that, the weekend work list is as follows:

Today:

  • Repair living room window
  • Sew new director’s chairs seat/backs
  • Continue patching living room walls
  • Tidy up the front porch

Friday:

  • Continue patching living room walls
  • Repair the living room ceiling
  • Prime four windows

Saturday:

  • Pick up my race packet at the expo!
  • Patch living room walls
  • Prime some of the living room trim

Sunday:

  • Run a marathon!
  • Take a nap
  • Drink one beer

Monday:

  • Paint some trim
  • Paint some of the walls (if we are able)

There is no room for lazy this weekend. If I have a decent race and take care of myself, I should feel well enough to still get some work done on Monday. Cross your fingers!

We have a slew of company coming starting in June. Our new furniture is also on the way very soon. This stuff needs to get done.

After I smell this flower, I will get right to work.

Good luck with your race! I can tell you’re an experienced marathoner by how much your regular life continues around race day. My one and only marathon pretty much took over my life for six months (hence why it was my one and only). And after, I was a wreck! I hope your race and your plans all go well.

Thank you! Running marathons has been part of my life since 2008. It is still a challenge, but yes, it does fit into regular life a little easier than it used to. Each one is a little different, so it is possible I very well might be a wreck on Monday. 🙂

Thank you so much! The list is a bit lofty, but we will do our best. 🙂
