This is a very, um, interesting sink. Not sure that I have seen one quite like this before. Maybe the green marble comes from Connemara, Ireland. One of the few places that you can get green marble!

The sink surround is light grey marble, and the basin is pink. 🙂 We will be keeping it for sure. It is too interesting to discard. The rest of the bathroom is a hot mess.

    Whaaaaaat?? This is beautiful!

I looked at/tried to buy a few really old places in Detroit and they all had great details like this. What’s the original build date on your place?

The closest date we can get is between 1880 and 1882. However, I am not sure about the sinks. Details such as the doorknobs and hardware are likely original, but I need to research some other items because this house should have predated both electricity and perhaps indoor plumbing.

I actually just did some superficial searching, and perhaps the sink is original after all. Once I really know, I will post some updates. Finding out which features are original is on my to do list. 🙂

That’s a gorgeous piece! Especially the marble. I’ve never seen one like it.
