We are still hard at work on the teen’s bedroom. I will post an update very soon.
Yesterday, Andy and I had the opportunity to give some friends the grand tour, warts and all, and it was fun to see how enthusiastic they were about how the house looks right now and also about our future vision for BHH. I told them that I still wake up every day, and I think to myself, I can’t believe I live here! This is our house.
Because the house needs so much TLC and repair, it is easy to overlook the parts of our home that are perfect just the way they are. Seeing BHH through the eyes of our friends made me realize that I need to make sure and share the good stuff too. This home does not need a complete overhaul. We are just catching up with the problems caused primarily by mother nature and that insidious force called time.
In the spirit of appreciating what we have right now, I am starting a Tuesday feature called, “No DIY required.” Every Tuesday I will share a photo of some aspects of BHH that are perfect just as they are. This feature will display a photo that speaks for itself, no narrative required. BHH is full of wonderful little details, and I will start by sharing my favorite.

Are the lock faces (where the latch sticks out) also ornate? At my parents’ old house they were. It’s amazing how beautiful the hardware can be in old homes.

Yes! They are so pretty too. I’m not the world’s best photo editor, and I couldn’t get my software to make each photo section of the collage to accommodate an elongated photos. The door hinges and the strike plates are even ornate. What year was your parents’ old house?

Those doorknobs are un.real. I love your house and can’t wait to see everything unfold. 🙂

At this point, we can hardly imagine everything unfolding, but we will keep taking baby steps. 😀
