Ever since Devyn became my podcast co-host and we moved the show to our new website, I struggled with how to keep all of you in the loop. For a long time, our listeners were still calling it the Blake Hill House podcast, and that didn’t feel fair to Devyn. That’s why I stopped mentioning it here as much. However, True Tales From Old Houses represents hours of my work life every week. When people ask me what I do, I tell them that I am a writer, and I host a podcast. Truthfully, I now spend more hours working on the podcast than I do writing. That’s what it takes to get the job done.
So, I made a decision. Since True Tales From Old Houses is such an important part of my life, and it is relevant content, I’ll be adding it back to this blog during the season.
Where did I leave off?
Season two wrapped at the end of 2019 with Paige is a DIY Dynamo. Not surprisingly, the October ghost story episodes were hits, but one show in November was so relatable that it became an instant download success. Many people saw a reflection of themselves in The Gift and Curse of DIY Perfectionism with Jason Lamb. –Big house? Far more work than expected? Mired in details?– Yeah, me too.
Season Three
Fresh off the success of Season Two, we rolled out Season Three on January 6, 2020. The following episodes are available now:
- Episode #21: Amy Sees Beauty in the Rubble – Find out how Amy Heavilin is turning an abandoned Queen Anne that she calls the Vivacious Victorian into the jewel of her neighborhood.
- Episode #23: Cathy & Garrett Poshusta: It’s All in the Details – Cathy and Garrett talk about design inspiration, fun old house finds, and what it’s really like to film a pilot for HGTV. You may also know Cathy from the wildly popular blog called The Grit & Polish.
- Episode #24: The Fine Line Between Hoarding & Collecting – Stacy and David, listener-turned-guest, discuss how he and his wife became the inadvertent owners of two building’s worth of architectural salvage, their plans for it all, and that fine line between hoarding and collecting.
What’s Next?
There are so many good things on the horizon with True Tales From Old Houses. First, for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community, I am working on providing transcripts for every show. Also, this season, there will be some field trip episodes. I’m taking my friend, videographer and photographer, Drew, with me to southern Indiana and Louisville, Kentucky. We will be visiting a restoration plasterer and a stained glass expert. It’s going to be a multimedia experience, and I can’t wait to share it with all of you.
Finally, if you are enjoying the podcast, there are a few ways, monetarily and not, that you can show your support.
Thank you for listening! If there is an episode you want us to make, let me know in the comments. I always love your ideas.
