I saw this quote by Nathaniel Hawthorne, and I nodded my head in agreement.
I cannot endure to waste anything so precious as autumnal sunshine by staying in the house.

Living somewhere with four distinct seasons is an adjustment our family is still making. The first couple of years, we let the warmer sunny days of fall slip away, and it made winter seem so much longer. Now, when the sun shines, we put as many tasks on hold as our schedules will allow, and we head outdoors.
30 Projects in 30 Days
How is everyone doing with their projects and this challenge? I am failing miserably. Keeping up with the podcast is taking every bit of my extra time. It is such a fulfilling project that I cannot complain. Episode two will be available by the middle of next week.
We still have not moved forward on the giant front door project. I ran the idea of painting it by Andy, and he would prefer to stain a small portion first before we abandon the idea altogether. He is right, and I need to carve out a bit of time to work on a test patch.

If you are in the Seattle area, you won’t want to miss The Grit & Polish estate sale. Cathy and Garrett have sold The Ravenna house which they have been renting out as an Air BnB. Most of the furnishings and decor are for sale. If it were possible, I would go in a heartbeat and pick up this little dresser. It would go perfectly in our guest room.

Jenna Sue revealed the house plans for The Heights House. It will all be gorgeous, but I am especially digging the character of the exterior. The photo below was her original inspiration photo. What a beauty.
Dear lord, it’s nearly One Room Challenge time again. The next challenge begins October 3rd for the featured designers and the 4th for the guest participants. Follow this link to sign up: ORC sign-up form
I am on the fence about participating in this round. I am still worn out from the spring One Room Challenge. Did that end up being a dumpster fire or what? At least it all worked out in the end.

There are two rooms I am considering for the ORC. If you had your choice, which room would you like to see us tackle? I am curious if we are on the same page. As usual, this time of year the budget is tight. We have about $300 in Lowe’s gift cards to spend on supplies and around $100 cash for accessories.
Have a great weekend!

Breaking my single huge project (or maybe 4 big projects) down into individual tasks that take a couple hours each, I’m almost on schedule, but we are going to New York City for the weekend and my sister will be home for a bridal shower the first weekend in October and she laid down the law that I am not getting my dad’s help with installing windows that weekend.
To think that at one point I thought it was feasible to do the bedroom for a One Room Challenge this fall. That involves trim work, drywall changes, and custom built-ins that I deferred until after the front windows are replaced. Or I could just do the facade for the one room challenge and rehash what I’ve already written about hemming and hawing about paint colors and finish carpentry around the door.

I’m so excited about your project, Chad. I can’t wait to see what your house looks like when you’ve finished the facade. You’ve already made so much progress.
Hope you have a great weekend in NYC!

Which two rooms are you considering?

I’ll let you know soon! I need to talk to Andy.

Since I am not caring for a family, big ol’ house, nor starting up a podcast, I am on track for the 30-in-30 challenge. So far. Looking forward to podcast #2!!
Stacy
That’s so great, SH. You have really embraced this challenge. I’m impressed.
