My update is a little late this week because I’ve been waiting for the plumber and the potential tiler. There have been days where I’ve been a bit stressed about all the waiting, but I’m mostly keeping things in perspective. Restoring the diamond-paned window has kept me busy, and I spent some time cleaning and organizing the adjacent bedroom. The bedroom has been a catch-all for this project for months, and the chaos and clutter were grating on my nerves.
Since I’ve had the supplies on hand for over a year, it was good to sort through it all and group like items together.
If you’re reading about this project for the first time, you can catch up here: week 1 | week 2
Plumbing & Tiling Update
After a false start or two, the plumber arrived yesterday, and he had good news. He can fix the flange in a minimally invasive way, and I’ll be back in business. The tiler he recommended is actually his cousin. So, we left the timing of the plumbing up in the air until I had a chance to meet him. (I’m sorry about all of the pronouns. They are potentially confusing. However, I’m trying to protect my tradespeople’s privacy for the time being.)
The tiler cousin showed up today, and we talked through the project. I feel very confident that he is the right person for the job. So, I’m going to go for it. I will have him tile everything to save me the heartache and the tool rental. Having him finish the shower and floor will be a big help because I’m super behind on window work and have the podcast to host and produce, too.
So, to prep for the tile, I will install the Schluter Kerdi system in the shower and on the floor, and that task starts tomorrow.
I’m not sure what I will have to show you next week, but until then, please visit the One Room Challenge blog to see all of the progress everyone else has made during week three.
Thank you for being here.

Progress…the needle is moving again! I hope these two tradespeople prove their “craftsman” status, and then some Maybe ask your guardian spirits to supervise 🙂
