Travel & Tours
Currently, there are no upcoming tours planned, but I will keep you posted!
What are the Advantages of Traveling with a Tour?
- Tours cover a lot of ground. The itineraries tend to be general, and tours are an excellent way to get a good overview of a large region.
- No driving or finding parking – The transportation is comfortable, and someone else does the driving. I will always remember our coach driver inching around the corners on the narrow streets of Edinburgh in a full-size bus. I would not want that responsibility.
- Making new friends – No one hits it off with everyone, but in my experience, the people on Holiday Vacation tours are friendly and kind. It is nice to see a familiar face every day, even if you don’t spend time together one-on-one. My mother, an experienced tour traveler, still vacations with a friend she met on one of her first tours.
- Someone else handles the planning. I enjoy planning travel, but some people do not. On a tour, it’s all taken care of, and the tour guide spends most of their time confirming activities and accommodations to make sure everything goes smoothly.
What if I don't want to do something listed on the itinerary?
I have special dietary restrictions or food allergies. Will Holiday Vacations be able to accommodate that?

Let’s Go to Scotland and Northern Ireland in July!
This post is in partnership with Holiday Vacations. Remember when we packed our bags and hit the road or the airport with nary a hand sanitizer bottle in sight? Good times. COVID sure put a wrench in getting away, but
Taking the Show on the Road: Hudson Valley, New York
When I started the True Tales From Old Houses podcast in 2018, I had my hands full getting past episode number one. Moving through the amateur start-up phase was brutal, but once the show gained a little traction, I started
Travelogue: Photos from the Crisp Point Lighthouse
The week before Labor Day, we took what is becoming our annual pilgrimage to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I know I shared photos and a video last year, but please bear with me as I abandon all social skills
